I just read a spirited article from Mark Thomas about how difficult the state is making business incorporation filing in California and if you are planning to file there, you should too. Mark lived in California for quite some time and speaks about the state with an obvious love. On topics from the weather to the people, he absolutely raves to anyone who will listen. When it comes to the government, however, his tune is not so positive.
Mark’s article outlines his belief that small business start ups are important to the economic recovery in California and his thought is that California is hurting itself by not making the business incorporation process easier, rather than harder. If you want to incorporate or form a limited liability company in California, this is a good read.

Is forming an LLC right for a home business? That question is addressed in a new article just published to our site by Jade Roberts. Because of her past corporate experience and now being a stay home mom who is becoming an entrepreneur, she has a unique perspective on this topic.
I believe that many of our customers believe any structure, whether an incorporation filing or forming an LLC, is intended for large businesses and that couldn’t be farther from the truth. Generally, the corporate structure is used by larger companies with more complex structures, but forming an LLC works equally well for a very small, one owner business or for a large company. In fact, some very large companies use the LLC structure because it is so convenient and simple to manage. Those same reasons make it ideal for the very smallest business.
So, if you are thinking about starting a home-based business or already have one, you may want to read her article to get a new perspective. If you still have questions about forming an LLC, feel free to give us a call. We are always glad to help!
In a follow up to our article on choosing between an LLC and a corporation, Blair Woods thought it would be helpful to review some of the important steps you need to consider once you’ve decided on an incorporation filing.
Her article, “7 Steps to Incorporation Filing” focuses on some of the necessary steps you will take in forming a corporation. Some of these steps are handled by us if you choose to use our incorporation services, but many will still be your responsibility so it’s definitely a worthwhile read.
Running a corporation is involved. I might recommend reading this article as a starting point and preparing a plan for how you will complete the requirements the state will have. You should also consider spending some time reviewing the materials in our Learning Center. There you can review a business start up checklist, familiarize yourself with incorporation terminology that may be unfamiliar, learn about financing options, and soon, you will even be able to download a business plan template.
It’s all part of our effort to make starting and running your company easier than ever before. Do you need help with something you don’t see? Send us an email. We would love the feedback and if there is an existing need that we don’t cover, we can make plans to add it.
Is an incorporation filing the right choice or should I be considering forming an LLC? Which one is right for my business? Honestly, if I had a nickel for every time I’ve been asked this question…well, you know. We do get this question often, so we regularly add new content to our website trying to answer this and similar questions in every way they are asked.
Our most recent addition, is entitled Incorporation 101, however, after reading it I think it goes well beyond a 101 version of this topic. It’s actually a pretty detailed discussion of the differences between an LLC, a corporation and remaining a sole proprietor. I think if you read this it should help you make a better decision relative to the needs of your business. Additionally, it discusses options to using our incorporation service. How’s that for open communication? We really want what’s best for you and if we can help you decide between an incorporation filing and LLC filing, we are happy. If you decide that our incorporation service can help you with the filing, we are even happier. Ultimately, we want you to know that we are here for you, with honest and open intentions. Good luck with your new business!
